The patient is treated at home as if he were in a hospital...

Dr. Elias Papazissis MD, MSc

Born in Athens in 1956, he studied Medicine in the University of Athens. He continued with postgraduate studies on Public Health in the Athens School of Public Health and he specialized in General Medicine and Community Medicine.

In 1990 he became vice-President of the Hellenic Association of General Practitioners.

In 1995 he applied the system of complete hospitalisation at home founding the Company «TELEIATRIKI» in Athens.

He has been working with the company «ATKOSoft» since 1997, as a medical counsellor on designing intelligent patient records.

In 2000 he planned and established the Hospital at Home Department of HYGEIA Hospital. He was the Director of the Hospital at Home Department of HYGEIA until 2006.

In the year 2003 Hospital at Home model was acknowledged by the European Commission as one of the best e-Health services in Europe.

In 2006 he founded hoMed, an organization aiming to improve Home Care and distribute the model of advanced home hospitalization internationally. He is the President of International Research Institute for Telemedicine and Home Care.

He has been working on coding and classification systems since 1992 and he has developed IMPACT© (Intelligent Medical Patient record and Coding Tool) and Control Tower ©, systems for quality control and improvement of medical supervision in health services. He is the inventor of ARCHIMEDES ®, a portable device for weighing bedridden patients and the inventor of STAND-A-DRIP ®, a modular and disposable drip stand.

X-Rays at Home

X-rays are easily performed at home with the aim of digital technology without any patient discomfort. They are digitally developed during the visit and they can be send by e-mail to any recipient.


Bedside blood tests

Important blood examinations can be performed during a home doctor's visit in only a few minutes:

BUN, Glucose, Creatinine, Potassium, Sodium, Hematocret, Hemoglobin, Anion gap, Blood gases, Lactate, PT/INR, Troponine, BNP.

These blood tests help the doctor to promptly correct any severe abnormality such as water and electrolyte disorders, hyperglycemia etc. or to early diagnose life-threatening conditions such as MI or hypercapnia.
