Structure of the Hospital at Home clinic

hoMed provides hospital care at the patient’s home. It functions as a normal hospital ward, with the only difference being that the patients are situated in their own homes. Visits are done at least twice a day. The doctors visit patients at least once a day.

The main features of the set up of the hoMed which upgrade it to the level of a hospital clinic is the structure, the readiness, the 24-hour function and, most importantly, the fact that it looks after patients from the acute phase of the illness and cares for them up to the end of their treatment, without in most cases the need for even a single day’s stay in hospital.

Excluding patients needing surgery, the only patients who require hospital admission are these who fulfill the criteria of admission into ICU, and they can be admitted directly into ICU.

In all other cases, the hoMed, depending on the severity of each case, does not restrict the nursing visits to two, which are the minimum, but also provides as many extra visits are necessary. It is necessary quite often for the medical or/and the nursing team to stay with the patient for hours in order to manage an acute problem,
just as would happen by hospital clinic doctors whenever there is a problem with a patient in one of the rooms.

The minimal two visits per day apply mainly for the time when the patient still needs the services of Hospital at Home but is stable and is not in the critical acute phase.
